Undercover’s visual world has always included characters, objects, and small sculptural pieces that sit between fashion and toy culture. These items trace the evolution of Jun Takahashi’s imagination. Seen together, they form a quiet timeline of Undercover’s sculptural language.
1. Undercover Bear
The Undercover Bear is one of the earliest mascots of the brand. It appeared first in graphic prints and later in plush store displays and vinyl figures produced with Japanese toy makers. Each version shifts slightly. Some are soft and rounded. Others have stitched details or altered facial expressions. The Bear has continued to appear across collections for more than two decades.
2. Hamburger Lamp
The Hamburger Lamp was introduced in the early 2000s and became one of Undercover’s most recognizable sculptural objects. Produced with Medicom, it resembles a hamburger with painted fillings and glowing eyes. Later versions included matte and glossy finishes. The lamp reflects Takahashi’s interest in turning everyday items into playful objects.
3. GRACE Dolls
The GRACE creatures were created for Spring Summer 2009. They were soft, white hybrids with painted eyes and a light-emitting tail. Originally handmade for runway presentations, they later became part of a small fictional universe around a secret group called Gila. Medicom produced a vinyl version that preserved the original proportions.
4. GILAPPLE
GILAPPLE began as a sculptural apple light used in Undercover shows. It later developed into a small series of objects including a handheld light, a silver edition, and a desk clock produced with Medicom. The form is simple. The mechanical interior shifts depending on the version. It is one of Undercover’s most recognizable product designs.
5. UNDERMAN
UNDERMAN appeared in Autumn Winter 2011 as a fictional hero inspired by early Japanese television. The figure was produced in soft vinyl by Medicom and accompanied by villain characters, masks, and posters. The designs combine retro proportions with handmade suit aesthetics.
